ACO AGM

The AGM of The Association of Charity Officers, held at Skinners Hall, EC4, on 10th December, 2008, was attended by two Trustees, Marian Shaw and Harry Dawson.  Talks and presentations were given against the background of the current financial crisis.

Delegates heard from Sue Regan about the recent research of the Resolution Foundation into the effects of low incomes in a mixed economy.  Their work will continue to focus on the Low Earners Audit, the Financial Health Forum and a new programme of Social Care, especially for older people.

Nick Hurd, MP, Shadow Minister for Charities, Social Enterprise and Volunteering, addressed the meeting after lunch and outlined the Conservative Party's plans to make the Third Sector more independent of the State.

Susanne Kendler, of Benevolence Today, talked about Developing Access Routes to Benevolence.  Jolanta Lasota talked about new developments from Turn2Us, a new organisation which directs applicants for grants to the appropriate charities.
